Control quality, optionally resize

Image optimization here means a quality slider and an optional long-edge limit, not a promised smaller file. Lower quality usually shrinks the file; higher quality keeps more detail. Format, transparency, and limits

The detected format is kept. If Sharp cannot read a format, the fallback is JPEG. PNG and WebP can keep an alpha channel; JPEG cannot. PNG quality is a compression level, not JPEG quality. EXIF is not preserved. Dimensions change only when you pick a max edge.

Is transparency kept?

On PNG and WebP, an alpha channel can remain. JPEG has no alpha. This page does not convert everything to JPG.

Is metadata kept?

No. Embedded metadata such as EXIF is not preserved.

How is this different from Compress Image?

Optimize Image lets you set quality and an optional max edge, and it keeps the source format. Compress Image always writes JPG at a fixed quality of 70 with no controls.
